About This Course

This undergraduate course introduces the fundamental principles of personal financial planning, enabling students to understand budgeting, saving, investing, and risk management across different stages of life. It provides an overview of the Indian financial system, including financial markets, banking, insurance, taxation, and key investment avenues. The course also develops digital and financial literacy, equipping students to make informed decisions and safely navigate modern financial systems.

Requirements

Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with basic concepts of budgeting, banking services, digital payments, and simple interest calculations and to regularly follow developments in financial markets and the economy.

Ms. Saritha V completed her M.Phil. in Applied Economics from Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Masters in Applied Economics with First Position from University Department of Economics - Dr. John Matthai Centre (JMC), Thrissur affiliated to University of Calicut. She Graduated from Sree Neelakanta Govt. Sanskrit College(SNGS), Pattambi affiliated to Calicut University. She started her teaching career as Guest Faculty in Basic Sciences and Humanities at SCMS Engineering College, Karukutty. She has also worked as a Part-Time Assistant Professor in the Post Graduate Department of Economics, Govt. Maharajas College, Ernakulam. She has taught Micro and Macro Economics, International Economics, Agricultural Economics and Resource Economics. Her area of interest includes Labour Economics, Migration, Micro and Macro Economics, Indian Constitutional law, Management, Entrepreneurial Economics and Econometrics.

She is pursuing her PhD in ‘Viability & Sustainability of Start-Ups in Kerala’ at Mahatma Gandhi University. Her research interests include Labour Economics and Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the Kerala Economic Association (Ernakulam Chapter).

She had been teaching Industrial Economics & Foreign Trade, Services Sciences & Service Operational Management, Introduction to Innovation, IP Management & Entrepreneurship, and Constitution of India for B. Tech students at RSET. She is currently teaching financial economics and financial planning to final-year B. Tech students. She joined Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology as an assistant professor under the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities in June 2016.
