About This Course

  • This course provides a technical and quantitative exploration of global energy demand, the environmental impacts of energy use, and strategies for reducing these impacts while ensuring a sustainable energy supply.
  • Using basic algebra, students will analyse various energy sources, their usage patterns, economic implications, and policy frameworks. 
  • The course includes training in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to support understanding of pathways toward net-zero emissions.
  • Additionally, it aims to challenge common misconceptions about energy production and its environmental consequences.

Dr. P. Lakshmanan

Dr. P. Lakshmanan received his B.E. in EEE from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore in 1997 and M.E. in Power System Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai in 2002. He has completed his Ph.D from Anna University, Chennai in 2015. He is having 25+ years of teaching experience and 5 years of industry experience. His research interest includes Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS), Electrical machines and Power Electronics. He has published research papers in various National /International Journals and Conferences. He is a life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education and member in IEEE. He has joined in Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology (RSET) in August 2024 as a Professor in Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
